Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a phytochemical plant chemical discovered in 1940. It is a well-known alternative medicine ingredient, accounting for more than 40% of the market. While CBD has some resemblances to THC, CBD doesn’t have the similar positive effects of euphoria. CBD instead works to stop certain immune cells from triggering certain tumor inflammations. However, in contrast to what many believe to be the benefits of CBD but we must keep in mind that CBD remains a powerful compound and has toxic properties when too much is ingested.
Since the beginning, it has been known that CBD can be used as a substitute for alcohol in the treatment of anxiety disorders. The most recent discovery was made by the lab of Michael J. Gerber at the University of Pittsburgh, where Gerber and his coworkers released their findings in the Journal of Human Evolution. F.D.A. was developed recently in the Pittsburgh lab. cannabidiol.
According to Gerber’s research “The main reason we were successful was identifying which compounds give us the most potency, without any of the negative side effects that are common to CBD.” In the past, CBD has only been considered a psychoactive substance but it has not shown any positive medical benefits. CBD isn’t an amino acid; rather , it is a phytochemical that comes from endocannabinoids. They are present in hemp, marijuana and a few other species of plants. They function as a kind of natural antidepressant. Recent research conducted at John Hopkins University have confirmed that CBD has anti-inflammatory properties and may even reduce the occurrence of seizures in children suffering from epilepsy that is not controlled.
While CBD is generally considered to be safe, with occasional caution, there is no evidence to suggest that CBD offers any health advantages when used with other medicines. A majority of studies on CBD and the active components have been conducted on animals that were fed a controlled diet of CBD as well as other drugs. There isn’t much information about the long-term human toxicity of CBD, and there is some evidence that it may be toxic in certain conditions.
Recent reports from the US House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Power indicate that CBD may have some psychoactive properties. The committee was particularly interested in the effects of CBD on patients who were prescribed Dronabinone, an antiepileptic drug that is used to treat heroin addiction. The committee concluded that Dronabinol can be effective for reducing both the desire to get high and the urge to take the same dose again in order to feel better. However the report didn’t specify which other medications, if any, are employed in conjunction with CBD to alleviate the effects of narcotic pain.
It is unclear from the evidence available the extent to which CBD is as effective in relieving anxiety as an illicit drug such as cannabis, or even as effective as psychostimulants like Ritalin. CBD is a chemical compound which is nearly identical to the chemical composition of cannabis (cannabis, the sativa). This means that CBD likely has a lower impact on the user’s mental health than psychoactive drugs like cannabis. There are however no recorded side effects of CBD for humans. If CBD helps to ease the chronic pain that is associated with anxiety or chronic seizures in animals (as some epilepsy patients are treated using CBD) it could have some serotonergic properties which can be of some benefit in alleviating anxiety in humans, without creating sedation. The CBD does not appear have any effects on serotonin in humans.
There is evidence to suggest that CBD may be effective in treating marijuana-related recreational use, and it has been found to not cause any adverse effects. The US government has not approved CBD to be sold as a prescription medication. However, CBD can be used by minors. Although hemp can be grown in most parts of the USA, CBD tends to be located in the southern part of the country, in states like Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida. The rates of production vary depending on the availability of industrial hemp. According to the hemp lobby the federal government has yet not yet approved CBD cultivation for form of medicine or medical use.
Although CBD may not have the same mind-altering effects of THC However, it has been demonstrated to reduce nausea in a few instances, and some evidence suggests that CBD could help in reducing anxiety and seizures. As noted above the sole known health benefit of CBD is its ability to reduce the appetite that is caused by withdrawal from alcohol. CBD is typically smoked instead of being ingested like THC which means it could have less adverse effects than cannabis. But because CBD lacks the same mind-altering, psychoactive properties of cannabis and THC, it is less risky than smoking cannabis. As mentioned above further research is required to determine the full health benefits of CBD in comparison to cannabis.
